Whereas Entre Chien et Loup is a classic approach to documentary photography, Tramolé Découpage seeks to juxtapose elements. It ventures to recreate perspectives by mixing images. Photography has its own language. Its syntax is composition. Its words and phrases are the elements the photographer finds outside the camera. And its perspective is that of a mirror.
Photography is in many ways a solitary reflection of our environment. Photographers mirror back onto the camera their perspective. But what image would a photographer see if he or she could look from the perspective of the mirror, of that which is being photographed. The idea of multiple perspectives reminds me of when I would be washing the dishes and my aunt would tell me that every dish had two sides. That’s what interests me about photography. I believe photography offers the opportunity of looking for a crack in the mirror of our perspective, regardless of the technical limitations the media imposes. There’s within photography the opportunity to change perspectives, to view the other side of the dish. Tramolé Découpage is my attempt to technically play with my mirror as I learn to portray my reflections on the diversity of perspectives.
Milking Cows from the series Tramolé Découpage was awarded an Honorable Mention in the Digitally Enhanced category of the International Photography Awards 2009.
