pierre alechinsky

In 1977 the Carnegie Museum of Art, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, awarded Pierre Alechinsky the first Andrew W. Mellon Prize for Painting in what was called the Pittsburgh International Series. The museum exhibited 134 of his paintings. These photos of Alechinsky were taken while he was present at the museum during the week prior to the exhibit’s opening.
